Animation Film Design

At the start, with inter-departmental faculties as well as visiting experts from India and abroad, students develop basic skills and are introduced to knowledge areas pertaining to animated films in particular, as well as communication in its social and cultural contexts.
In the later semesters, students are exposed to a workshop mode of learning where they experiment with various mediums: from traditional hand drawn 2D, clay, sand, oil on glass, stop motion, pixilation to CGI/digital platform.
In addition, students of animation go through an experiential learning of cross-disciplinary campus life. During their final semester, they can choose the medium of their choice with more emphasis on storytelling with original context and idea. With the initial inputs and dynamic curriculum, students’ projects eventually result in a unique and original product, which also brings various international and national awards, accolades and recognition from time to time.

Careers in Animation Film Design

Graduates of this Programsme find rewarding careers as animators, character designers, story-board artists as well as creative directors, producers, consultants and designers in many organisations such as Channel [V], MTV, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, Tata Interactive, Infosys, Cognizant to name a few and also as individual designpreneur or as faculty/designers at various design schools in India, including their alma mater, and abroad.

Film & Video Communication

Students are first introduced to the basics of communication design and aspects of social theory and the language, grammar and technology of film and video. Thereafter, additional theoretical inputs continue to supplement the development of holistic conceptual abilities, simultaneous to the building of proficiency in the practical aspects of filmmaking.
Key elements of the Programs are Video Production (pre, production and post), Film Studies, Liberal Arts and Internship / Projects. The strength and versatility of the Film and Video Education Programs has been proved by the worldwide recognition earned by its students’ films. These films have been showcased in prestigious competitive film festivals across the globe, besides winning accolades within India.

Careers in Film & Video Communication Design

Graduates of the Programs have gone on to rewarding careers within the broad spectrum of the moving image industry. These include feature films, television channels, production houses, advertising agencies, interactive media ventures government and voluntary bodies having a communication agenda.

Furniture & Interior Design

The Furniture and Interior Design Programs aims to provide an integrated approach to furniture and interior elements as part of living / work spaces habitat and challenges to redefine the boundaries of such objects and elements with a systems perspective.
The Furniture & Interior Design Discipline believes in a broad and interdisciplinary attitude for enriching the design activity. The discipline also encourages introduction of a strong foundation of basics which facilitates anticipation of the future. The focus areas of the Programs are retail design, sustainable and ecological design, and exhibition design. This provides a comprehensive understanding of commercial objectives, marketing knowledge, visual merchandising, spatial and display design, fixture and lighting, communication design and branding strategies. Special emphasis is placed on the ability to develop self-made prototypes in order to test human and functional factors v/s aesthetics and use of materials. Furthermore, the Programs places special emphasis on the ability to integrate furniture elements and systems in the interior spatial contexts. The Programs includes time spent in an internship and a final diploma project. The Programs has established quality collaborative interactions with leading design and manufacturing firms that bring a vital real-time reality into the student's endeavours.

Careers in Furniture & Interior Design

After the completion of their courses, the students can occupy various positions in the design industry such as Interior Designer, Furniture Designer, Spatial Designer etc. Students also start freelancing and build their own set up.

Graphic Design

The ultimate aim is to stimulate the development of independent critical judgment, sound research skills, the ability to think creatively and practice design as a professional. Quality and creative solutions contextual to the user’s needs are still a basic human input. The fundamental importance of creating a visual vocabulary through drawing, the development of aesthetic judgment, values of form, proportion, image and word have become an integral part of learning graphic design.
They key elements of the Programs are: Narrative Design, Business Design, Interactive Design, Print & Production, Experimental & Exploratory Design. During their period of study, students in graphic design are encouraged to work on a variety of projects, majoring in the selected sub-domain of graphic design.

Careers in Graphic Designing

Students, on successful completion of the Programs would have acquired the competencies to find placements with leading graphic design agencies working in the area of branding, publication houses, and communication design firms or become a part of Design Teams of large multinational corporations. They could also start their own design studios.

Product Design

The Product Design Programs would broadly cover: Understanding elements of three-dimensional form, ergonomics (human factors) An introduction to the forming of various kinds of materials. Developing workshop, technical drawing and presentation abilities. Design projects are core to product design education. They start early in the Programs and continue throughout the Programs, gradually increasing in level of complexity and variety. In addition, specific courses like History of Design, Information Theory, Computer-Aided Design, Design Management and Marketing, Value Engineering and Systems Thinking are also covered. Exposure is also given to students of the manufacturing industry through field visits and projects.

Careers in Product Design

After the completion of their courses, the students can occupy various positions in the design industry such as Industrial Product Designer, Product Design Manager etc. Students can also get recruited in sectional positions like Watch Designer, Footwear Designer etc.

Toy & Game Design

At the under graduate level, there is only Programs offered by DSK International Campus called Video Game Design with 120 seats available. Game Design is a key factor in enhancing the quality of a Video Game covering all the creative techniques used to make up the game: game mechanisms, rules, emotions sought, interactivity, game play, etc. The course is split into: Foundation (3 years) and Advanced (2 years) The three year Foundation Course enables students to acquire the basic knowledge they need to take a professional approach to video game production. During the two year Advanced Course, students gain a deeper knowledge of the techniques and skills required for game design and video game production management.

Careers in Toy & Game Design

After the completion of their courses, the students can occupy various positions in the design industry such as Project Manager, Game Designer, Level Designer, Production Assistant etc. Students also have career prospects in video game industry in the fields of: Development Studios, Publishers, Distributors etc.

Transport Design

The Transport Design Programs would broadly cover In these initial years, they are taught about the design process through training in the areas of graphic expression, creativity techniques, manufacturing techniques as well as consumer practices. The course progresses with inculcating aesthetics, form sensitivity, analytical abilities and giving a broad understanding of concepts and concerns in Transportation & Automobile Design.
Students tackle varying levels of complexity through design projects ranging from non-motorized transport, display/ controls, vehicle design, system design to understand the design process in various contexts. The aim of the advanced stage of the course is to conceptualize and develop the machinery, the silhouette, the general structure of the interior/exterior of vehicles that help or would help transport goods or people. In addition to the coursework, the schools generally have MoUs with design studios abroad as well as in India. Also, there is a regular interaction and guest lectures with design practitioners from automobile industry in India for specific inputs during classroom projects, feedback and portfolio reviews.

After the completion of their courses, the students can occupy various positions in the design industry such as Interior Automotive Designer, Exterior Automotive Designer etc.

IT Integrated Design

At the under graduate level, there is only Programs offered by DSK International Campus called Digital Design with 60 seats available. The Digital Designer is in charge of elaborating and setting up the digital modeling process, photorealistic simulation, rapid prototyping, and making a video of 3D and composite images. He is responsible for data communication to engineers. He also handles advanced visualization tools and helps decision makers to finalize the prototype. The course is split into Foundation (2 years) and Advanced (3 years). The Advanced course enables students to become experts in the synthesis of fixed and animated images. Students are taught to direct the production of digital materials for decision makers and communicators: for example, digital realistic scenes, 3D animation films, rapid prototyping, immersive universes, 3D relief, etc

Careers in IT Integrated Design

The students can occupy various positions in the design industry such as Interior Automotive Designer, Exterior Automotive Designer etc.
